How We Earn Money
Best Drone Reviews participates in affiliate programs with several drone manufacturers and retailers. This means that when you click certain links on our site and make a purchase, we earn a small commission from that sale.
This is how we keep the site running, pay for drones to test, and continue publishing honest reviews. The important thing to know is that buying through our links never costs you a penny more than buying directly. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or not.
How to Identify Affiliate Links
We want to be completely upfront about which links are affiliate links. Here is how you can spot them:
- Affiliate links on our site use the AffiliateButton component, which appears as a teal-colored button. If you see a teal button pointing to a retailer or manufacturer, it is an affiliate link.
- These links always open in a new tab so you do not lose your place on our site.
-
Every affiliate link is marked with
rel="noopener sponsored"in the HTML. The "sponsored" attribute tells search engines and browsers that the link is a commercial relationship, which is part of our commitment to transparency.
Editorial Independence
Our affiliate relationships have absolutely no influence on our ratings, rankings, or recommendations. Here is how we keep things honest:
- We buy or borrow every drone we review. When manufacturers send us loaner units for testing, we return them after the review is complete.
- Negative reviews stay published. If a drone disappoints us, we say so plainly, even if we have an affiliate relationship with that brand.
- Commissions never influence scores. A higher commission rate will never bump a product up in our rankings. Our recommendations are based on real-world testing and honest evaluation.
- We recommend what we would use ourselves. Every drone we recommend is one we would be comfortable buying with our own money.
FTC Compliance
We comply with the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guidelines (16 CFR Part 255), which require clear disclosure of affiliate relationships.
You will find affiliate disclosures on every page that contains affiliate links, typically near the top of the article and in the site footer. We believe in being straightforward with our readers about how we make money.
